Parish Liturgy Group
The Parish Liturgy Group was formed in 1994 in response to the need which arose when the then parish priest Fr. John Ryder decided to introduce the new preparation programme for First Eucharist entitled ‘Do This In Memory’.
This Programme is written by Maeve Mahon and Martin Delaney and is published by Veritas.
‘Do This In Memory’ complements the school-based work and takes place outside the classroom in the context of the parish Sunday Eucharist. The programme is designed to facilitate the active involvement of parents, guardians and the wider parish community in preparation of the children for First Eucharist.
The programme takes place over nine Sundays and is continued in the home through the use of activities and resources suggested in the monthly newsletter, The Grapevine.
The Liturgy Group meet each month with Fr. Gallagher and the parents and children who will be making their First Communion to prepare the liturgies.

The family passes on human values in the Christian tradition, and it awakens a sense of God in its youngest members. It teaches the first tentative steps of prayer, it forms the moral conscience, and it teaches human love as a reflection of divine love. Indeed, the catechetics of the home are more witness than teaching, more occasional than systematic, and more daily than structured into periods.
