Stations of the Cross
Good Friday (2nd April, 2010)
On Tuesday evening a severe storm consisting of high winds, ice and drifting snow wreaked havoc across the parish of Greencastle, much of Tyrone and many other parts of the country. Many parishioners were without electricity and water supplies for several days.
Under these circumstances we entered into the special spiritual and human journey that is remembered by Christians everywhere, that we call Holy Week.
A public ‘Way of the Cross’ pilgrimage of prayer was planned for 6.00pm on Good Friday – a walk that would take us from the ancient and pre-Christian Stone Circles at Beaghmore to the Church of Our Lady of the Wayside, Broughderg where we have been worshipping and praying for almost 25 years.
Heavy and sustained rain in the afternoon and early evening made the pilgrimage impossible, so a group of parishioners gathered at the church and the Stations of the Cross were prayed – indoors this year!
Holy Week 2010 will be remembered for a long time into the future
