Anniversary of the Ordinations of Fr. Terry and Fr. Donal Bennett

a pictureFr. Terry Bennett and his brother Fr. Donal Bennett concelebrated Mass at 7.30pm on Friday 1st October (Feast of the Saint Therese of Lisieux and patroness of the MIssions) in St. Mary’s Church, Killyclogher to mark the anniversaries of their ordination to Priesthood. Fr. Terry celebrated his Diamond Jubilee (60th) and Fr. Donal his Golden Jubilee (50th). They both belong to St. Columban’s Missionary Society based in Navan Co.Meath. Since their retirement from Missionary ministry in the Philippines they have been very supportive of our faith-community here in Greencastle parish. The presence of so many parishioners from Greencastle parish was our way to say thanks to them and to offer them our support in their ministry.

We used to have many parishioners who served on the missions as Religious Brothers, Sisters and Priests in faraway countries. Today Fr. O'Hagan of Brocagh South is our only native-born missionary priest. He belongs to the Sacred Heart Missionary order and works in California.

We promise to keep the work of our Church's missionary outreach in our prayer throughout this month.
